HI All, I am Wynand. My story starts with me being born with an aorta coartation that was not picked up at birth. Had my first operation at the age of 16. At 24 I had an aorta replacement from an organ donor. I picked up a bacteria in 2014 after IM South Africa, that went to my heart and lungs and had a double valve replacement in 2014. I just never got better and in 2017 had my second heart valve replacement. Spent 58 days in Bayview Hospital, 29 in ICU and flatlined twice. Was dubbed the "miracle baby". I promised my Dr I would do IM again, but I will do it to help kids, with awareness and funding to make operations available. Triathlon saved my life, help us to save children's lives by supporting Ironman4kidz.
